STORAGE (STOchastic RAinfall GEnerator): A User-Friendly Software for Generating Long and High-Resolution Rainfall Time Series

The MS Excel file with VBA (Visual Basic for Application) macros named STORAGE (STOchastic RAinfall GEnerator) is introduced herein. a temporal stochastic simulator aiming at generating long and high-resolution rainfall time series, it based on the implementation of Neymann–Scott Rectangular Pulse (NSRP) model. characterized by two innovative aspects. First, its calibration (i.e., parametric estimation, basis available sample data, in order to better reproduce some features interest) carried out using data series (annual maxima rainfall, annual monthly cumulative number wet days) which are usually longer than observed (that mainly adopted literature other simulators but very short or absent many rain gauges). Second, seasonality modelled goniometric functions. This approach makes strongly parsimonious respect use seasonal sets parameters. Applications gauge network Calabria region (southern Italy) presented discussed results show good reproduction considered usual hydrological purposes.
